30 firms who donated Rs 335 Cr to BJP faced actions by ED, IT, reveals TNM, Newslaundry report

A report by The News Minute and Newslaundry has uncovered that over the past five financial years, at least 30 companies, contributing nearly Rs 335 crore to the Bharatiya Janata Party, faced actions from central agencies like Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax department.

Notably, some companies increased their donations to the Hindu nationalist party after being investigated, while others faced action for skipping donations.

Surprisingly, 23 of these firms, contributing Rs 187.58 crore to the ruling party, had never donated to the BJP from 2014 until the time of the investigation, the TNM and Newslaundry report said.

Furthermore, the report reveals variations in donation patterns among the companies during and after central agency interventions, emphasizing the complex dynamics between corporate contributions and political scrutiny.

The report revealed that at least four companies contributed a total of Rs 9.05 crore within four months of facing central agency investigations.

Also, six companies, already established as donors to the saffron party, increased their financial support in the months following regulatory searches.

Only three out of the 32 companies examined contributed to the Congress during this period, according to the investigation.
