Aaron Dixon is an American activist and a former captain of the Seattle chapter of the Black Panther Party for its initial four years. In 2006, he ran for the US Senate in Washington state on the Green Party ticket.
Let’s read his reflections on United States presidential election, 2016 :-
” Forty five, that is the number of lying psychopathic presidents that have seemingly held the lives of people of color in a state of suspended animation. Our very lives, our hopes and dreams, our strong desires to just live in peace and harmony have been held captive by whoever is elected to sit in the oval office. It is this farce called election that has toyed with us, lied to us, saddened us, and given us false happiness. The election is a contraption that has given us so much anxiety and hopelessness and a thousand sleepless nights. We came so close on this last one. All over the land people have grown tired of the establishment lies and phoniness.
Bernie Sanders gave us more than a glimmer of hope. A man of true principle. A man of love and peace who during his campaign never once said a disparaging remark against Muslims, Mexicans, Blacks, Natives, the weak, the poor, the unfortunate. Said nothing against women or against queer communities. He spoke of sharing and of ending this mad cycle of greed that has created so much suffering in this land of plenty.
But yet again we saw the underhandedness of the political system. All the polls showed that he would have defeated any challenger. He was what the people had put forward. But the rotten Democratic machine wanted to put another Clinton in position to lie and steal and cheat us again.
And once again the people’s expressed hopes were bashed. And because of the Democratic Party’s unwillingness to elect a candidate chosen by the people, they instead put forth Hillary Clinton. She ended up to be a person who is so despised by so many people that, they would turn their backs and vote for the most despicable candidate in the history of U.S. elections. The president elect is a billionaire who comes from the same class that has created so much suffering for millions of Americans.
Yes, he is not part of the elite political class but for sure he is part of the wealthy elite class. He is a person that has spewed so much hate and filth during his campaign. He is a person who has raped and molested his way to the top. Yet the people were so disgusted and tired of Hillary Clinton that many people chose not to vote and many who were so desperate for an anti-establishment candidate that they mistook Trump as their savior. Of courses there is 37 percent of the people in this country that are just outright racist and misogynist.
Yes, Wednesday was another sad day.
We the poor, the people of color, the immigrants running from violence created by American foreign policies, are used to these sad days and are used to these broken promises, broken treaties.
But we are not conquered. We are getting stronger. We are getting more numerous. We are getting more radical. We are beginning to see the light. We will take the worst that Trump, the Congress and the Senate and the rest of the status quo will meet out to us and we will use it to fuel our push to overthrow this rotten, corrupt, racist, xenophobic, homophobic super capitalistic crap. And flush it down the toilet to hell.
Next time it will be our turn. Persevere, love, dream and build till then. ”
