My Letter  – Poem

Zainab Zubair Malol

My parents kept trying
to stop him from crying
but the military kept bombing
and took away my sibling.

They blasted off my house
and next on the list were my spouse
for this was the dose
they gave him for protecting his in-laws.

Where is Humanity? I ask
Oh you humanitarian; take off your mask
for you, you aren’t real.

No one knows why
but bombs still fly up high
and come down by

They shattered our pride
Took away life’s tide
But still, under the sun we reside
With hope inside

For someday things shall get better
Maybe not now, but latter
And that day my friend, read out my letter
For this ain’t no twitter.
