Students Dissent in Kashmir Against Indian Paramilitary Forces ; A Photo Story by A Kashmiri Photojournalist

Many Kashmiri  students’ sustained injuries after Indian police used teargas shells, chili smoke, water cannons and stun grenades to disperse them. They were protesting against the police raid in Degree College Pulwama last week in which more than forty students got injured in police action. According to students, a contingent of police and CRPF entered the college premises apparently to arrest some boys who had protested against the army presence in the college earlier this week. Hospital sources said 54 students were injured in the clashes. The injured included female students as well. Injured were shifted to Pulwama Hospital. The Kashmir University Students Union said the attack on Degree College Pulwama by Indian forces on Saturday is another eye opener about the nature of the state apparatus. Violence erupted on Monday in the SP Higher Secondary School also in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk.

Faisal Khan is an established Photojournalist back from Palestine -based in Kashmir ,working with Turkey based Anadolu Agency. He documented the protest by dozens of Kashmiri students confronting armed Indian forces wearing riot gear. Faisal Khan’s photographs include the female students resisting against army went viral on social media.
