Bindu Bhaskar Balaji, senior journalist and Professor of Asian College of Journalism, Chennai passed away this morning, May 11.
She succumbed to cancer after silently and bravely fighting the illness for more than a year.
Daughter of renowned author and journalist, BRP Bhaskar, Bindu had her early education in New Delhi, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram. She went on to graduate from stella maris College, Chennai. She then studied journalism at Time’s Research Foundation’ School of Journalism in New Delhi.
Bindu worked with Times of India, Economic Times and Frontline. She wrote the book My Vote Counts on India’s democratic system. She was Frontline correspondent in Kerala in early 1990s and covered developments related to Sister Abhaya’s death and Chekannur Maulavi’s disappearance.
