If anything happens to my mother, Indian govt will be responsible, Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter tells J&K administration

Iltija Mufti, the daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, on Tuesday said she has requested the government to shift her mother to a place equipped to deal with the winter in Kashmir.

Mehbooba Muft has been detained at a government guest house in Srinagar since the Centre scrapped Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in August.

“I’ve repeatedly raised concerns about the well being of my mother. I wrote to DC Srinagar a month ago to shift her someplace equipped for the harsh winter. If anything happens to her, the Indian government will be responsible,” she said in a tweet posted from her mother’s Twitter account.

In a letter written to Srinagar’s deputy commissioner last month, Iltija Mufti said the Centre will be responsible if anything happens to her mother.

“A doctor recently ran multiple tests on her as she was not keeping well,” she said in letter. “As per those tests, her Vitamin D, haemoglobin and Calcium levels are low.”

“Keeping in mind these points, I would like to request you to shift her to another location more suitable. I hope you will address this problem urgently” ltija Mufti added.

Mainstream politicians, activists, businessman have been placed under detention after the Centre revoked Article 370 that provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
