‘Great injustice to us’. Thousands of Tamil Muslims protest against Babri verdict

Thousands of Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath members held a major demonstration against the Supreme Court judgment on Babri Mosque- Ramajanmabhoomi Temple dispute, in front of the Chepakkam Government Guest House in Chennai on Monday.

“Following the demolition of Babri Masjid by Hindutva groups in 1992, the Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao gave an assurance that the mosque would be built in the same place. The promise of rebuilding the Babri mosque was never fulfilled.” leaders of Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath said.

” The court stated that Muslims have failed to exercise their right of ownership to the land. The painful thing is that, while the court stated that Muslims have failed to exercise their right of ownership to the land, the Supreme Court also did not mention in any part of its part of the verdict, was that neither Hindus have the exclusive right to worship there nor the owner of the whole land. So the Muslims see this as a great injustice,” the protesters said.

Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath chief Shamsulluha Rahmani, presided over the protest.

“It was a great injustice to us and we have been deprived of our Mosque. If the verdict had been delivered based on facts and the law of the land, we would have accepted it. This is our protest to show our displeasure against the injustice rendered on us,” E. Mohammed, general secretary of the organisation said.

Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TNTJ) is a non political and social organization working for the cause of the Muslims way back from 1980’s onward.
