Babri: 2 students booked for Facebook post against LK Advani, key conspirator of mosque demolition

An FIR was lodged against two student leaders for an alleged “objectionable post” related with Babri demolition against former Union Home Minister LK Advani.

Talha Mannan Khan, student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Sharjeel Usmani, alumni of the same varsity were booked on a complaint filed by the BJP Yuva Morcha district in charge, Prateek Chauhan.

The students shared post on social media related to the Babri Masjid demolition with a picture of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and one of the key conspirators of Babri Masjid demolition L.K. Advani.

The post was an invitation to a public meeting on December 6 at the AMU’s Kennedy lawn on the subject -“Punish Those Guilty of Babri Demolition”.

Mannan and Usmani were booked under Section 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race etc) of the IPC and Section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the IT Act, Anil Samaniya, Circle Officer Civil Lines told the media.

Further investigation is underway and necessary action will be taken, he said.

The hardliner Hindutva leader L.K. Advani, BJP president from 1989, undertook a rath yatra in 90’s, which is considered directly responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid on 6 December 1992.

When the mosque was brought down on 6 December 1992, Advani, along with other BJP leaders, was present in Ayodhya, giving speeches to crowds of kar sevaks.
