Video: Woman protester being beaten by policeman in Delhi

Video shows woman being beaten by policeman for protesting Police violence on JNU campus.

Footage from the spots showed slogan-shouting women students being dragged away, beaten and packed into buses by the police.

The protest march by students of JNU — bound for Rashtrapati Bhavan — ended in lathicharge and largescale detentions by the Delhi Police on Thursday.

Students, teachers and civil society groups had joined the march from Mandi House. The students went to the offices of the HRD ministry and submitted a memorandum regarding Sunday’s masked ABVP mob attack at the JNU and their demand for the resignation of the university’s vice-chancellor.

But after the meeting with the HRD officials, the students decided to move towards the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

As the Delhi Police refused to allow Rashtrapati Bhavan March, the slogan shouting started. Amid slogans of “Delhi Police murdabad,” the lathicharge and mass detentions began. The students have been beaten brutally by the police.

On January 5, more than 30 students of the university, including JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh, were severely injured and taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre after a masked RSS students’ wing ABVP mob entered the varsity and attacked them and professors with sticks and rods.
