An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker reportedly died and another sustained gunshot injury after shots were fired at AAP MLA Naresh Yadav and the workers accompanying him while they were on their way back from a temple.
The AAP worker who died was Ashok Mann, according to AAP senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh.
The incident took place hours after AAP under Arvind Kejriwal stormed back into power in Delhi.
“At least one volunteer has passed away due to bullet wounds. Another is injured,” said AAP official twitter handle.
Harendra, the injured has been taken to Fortis hospital.
After a day, the Delhi Police detained a 38-year-old man in connection with the shooting.
The initial investigation by the police has revealed that three people were involved in the shooting and the person detained had a personal enmity with AAP worker and the firing had nothing do with politics, the police sources say.
