Jamia students release CCTV footage of Delhi Police assaulting on students in library on Dec 15

Students of Jamia Millia Islamia has released CCTV footage purportedly showing Delhi Policemen assaulting students in the university library on the night of December 15 when the police brutality rocked the campus amid anti-CAA protests in the area.

The video, tweeted by the Jamia Coordination Committee, shows the police entering the library on the first floor of the MA/MPhil section.

The time-stamp on the CCTV footage shows the cops entering at 6:08pm and raining blows on unarmed students using lathis.

The latest CCTV footage prompted questions on the police action in Jamia, with the Jamia students and opposition leaders demanding action against the Delhi Police.

“Not even in an autocratic state does not unleash this kind of violence on unarmed students inside a university library. Reading books in a Library is a crime under BJP rule,” Abdulla CK, a research scholar in Jamia tweeted.

“This CCTV footage is a proof of state sponsored/Islamophobic attack on the students of Jamia Millia Islamia. You can clearly see the Police attacking unarmed and harmless students. We will not forget and we will not forgive,” Delhi based poet and activist Nabiya Khan said.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi accused the Union Home Ministry and Delhi Police of lying.
