Beyond the ‘Uncut Exclusive’: CCTV footage released by media has more to say

Snapshot from the CCTV footage which exposes police brutality inside the reading room of Jamia Millia Islamia on 15 December 2019.

The CCTV footages from 15th December 2019 of Jamia Millia Islamia university reading room have sparked off controversies as both Delhi police and students come out with evidence citing their narration of the incident.

The video surfaced on Sunday morning, exactly after two months of the attack blew up as it clearly showed that unarmed students were brutally beaten up by the police. It was condemned internationally as visuals backed the horrific testimonies of students.

To counter this expose, Delhi Police and some media outlets came out with a video compilation which shows only students being chased away entering a reading room from footages inside the building. The video was cut off before the footage shows how police enter the room and attack the students.

Maktoob got access to the hour-long footage which indicates that there was a massive crackdown inside the room.

“The police weren’t in the room for any particular arrest but to terrorize the students and do maximum damage to the varsity,” a student who was inside the room told Maktoob.
