At least 35 people have been killed in the anti-Muslim violence in northeast Delhi and police and paramilitary forces patrolled the streets in far greater numbers on Wednesday, as swathes of the violence-hit areas were deserted.
Hundreds have been wounded in the violence, according to hospital officials, with many suffering gunshot wounds, amid incidents of stone-pelting, arson, and looting.
Muslims and their properties were targeted in the anti-Muslim violence led by Hindu right-wing extremists.

Narendra Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat was the instigator of Muslim genocide in Gujarat in 2002 February. He let Gujarat burn for days and did not call for reinforcements. About 3000 Muslims are killed. Some 20,000 Muslim homes and businesses and 360 places of worship are destroyed, and roughly 150,000 people are displaced.
Same happened in Delhi in 2020 February. Narendra Modi led Central Government let Delhi burn for days. Muslims and their properties were targeted in the anti-Muslim violence led by Hindutva right-wing extremists.
Delhi Police arrests 106 people on basis of CCTV footage
According to Delhi Police, all the 106 arrested people are locals and that more arrests will be made on the basis of CCTV footage recovered. The police also told the Delhi High Court that they have got visuals of outsiders and they are being identified and have filed 48 FIRs in the northeast Delhi violence.

The death toll in the wave of anti-Muslim violence that broke out and spread in areas of Northeast Delhi rose to 18 today, with five more people succumbing to their injuries. All private and government schools in Northeast Delhi will remain closed on Wednesday and CBSE board exams scheduled in centres in the areas postponed.

85-year-old Muslim woman burnt alive
An 85-year-old woman was burnt to death in her home in Delhi’s Gamri extension, Scroll In reports. Mohammed Saeed Salmani’s mother, 85-year-old Akbari, died in the fire on the third floor of their house. The building itself was burnt, including the family’s tailoring workshops on the first two floors. Salmani claims that the mobs also looted him of Rs 8 lakh and all the family jewelry stored in the building. “I have nothing left, I am zero,” he told Scroll.in. My mother was old and could not run or cope with all the smoke – she died in the house only,” said Salmani. “If I had been there, perhaps I would have been able to get her up to the roof.”

Fresh violence has been reported from Muslim populated areas such as Karawal Nagar, Maujpur, Bhajanpura, Vijay Park and Yamuna Vihar, while stones were thrown in neighborhoods such as Maujpur on Tuesday.
Video footage shared on social media showed a mob of Hindu extremists on Tuesday climbing on top of the mosque’s minaret where they attempted to plant a flag with Hindu symbols.
On 23 February, the BJP leader and former MLA Kapil Sharma issued “an ultimatum” to the Delhi police, to oust the anti-CAA protesters from the Delhi’s roads. On the same day, Hindu right-wing extremists, chanting slogans such as “Jai Shri Ram”— arrived at the Muslim localities in northeast Delhi. The anti-Muslim violence erupted in these localities and escalated the next day.
On Monday, Hindu right-wing extremists continued to come together in various northeast Delhi neighborhoods, including Maujpur, Chand Bagh, Bhajanpura and Karawal Nagar. They pelted stones at Muslims. The Hindu mobs set cars and shops on fire and brutally beat up Muslim residents. The police personnel also supported and aided the armed Hindu mobs.
