Top Congress leaders on Thursday discussed the situation arising out of the coronavirus outbreak and the lockdown, with party chief calling for acting in solidarity and helping the marginalized during the crisis.
“In our country, those who are most vulnerable to the consequences of this pandemic are the poor and disadvantaged. We must come together for their sake and do all we can to support them through the difficult days that lie ahead,” Sonia said.
Congress chief said while the 21-day nationwide lockdown may have been necessary, the “unplanned manner” of its implementation had caused chaos and pain to millions of migrant workers all over India.
“The magnitude of the challenge before us is daunting but our resolve to overcome it must be greater,” she said.
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also emphasises on the need of the state governments to take care of the most vulnerable sections of the society as the country braces itself to fight this pandemic.
