Liverpool’s first English Premier League title since 1990 was confirmed on Thursday after Manchester City lost 2-1 to Chelsea win at Stamford Bridge.
Instead, the Premier League championship was secured when Chelsea beat Manchester, a result that means City can no longer catch Liverpool with seven games remaining.
The Reds ran up a 23-point advantage over second-place City after the victory over Crystal Palace last night.
No team since the inception of the league in England in 1888 has clinched the title with seven games remaining.
Liverpool had previously won 18 league titles but none since 1990.
The ongoing pandemic controlled restrictions meant fans were unable to celebrate the historic victory in large crowds.
