Bashir Ahmed Khan, a 65-year-old man was shot dead on Wednesday morning in Sopore district in Kashmir valley. Bashir was accompanied by Hayat, his 3-year-old grandson, who was seen sitting on his corpse.
Son of Bashir Ahmed said his father was brought down from the vehicle and killed by CRPF men.
“My father was brought down from the car and shot dead,” said the daughter of Bashir.
She said her father had gone to the bank to cash a cheque and on the way, he was dragged out of his car and then shot in cold blood.
“My father’s killers did not care about the 3-year-old child who was accompanying him. Who shoots a person in front of a 3-year-old kid?” she said.
The police say Bashir was killed in a crossfire when Kashmiri insurgents attacked their forces.
Bashir’s wife said her 3-year-old grandson was deliberately made to sit on the corpse of her husband.
“They killed him and then kept his three-year-old grandson on his body. The child’s clothes are soaked with his grandpa’s blood. He was not a militant. He was a petty employee,” she said.
