Priyanka Gandhi seeks CBI probe in Vikas Dubey’s case

The Uttar Pradesh government has failed completely in showing the promptness with which it should have acted in the heinous massacre of Kanpur proved to be a complete failure, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi said on Thursday.

Hours after gangster Vikas Dubey was arrested from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra demanded a CBI probe into his arrest to ascertain the facts about the “grant of protection” to the gangster.

Despite the alert, the accused reached Ujjain, this not only exposes the claims of security but also indicates connivance, she added.

No action on the three-month-old letter and the absence of ‘Vikas’ in the list of notorious criminals suggest that the strings of the case are deeply connected, Congress leader raised the concern.

Dubey was arrested on Thursday morning from the famous Mahakal temple in Ujjain.

Eight policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police, were ambushed in Kanpur, where they had gone to arrest Vikas Dubey and fell to bullets fired from rooftops last Friday. Dubey had been absconding since then.
