Bhima Koregaon: NIA summons Delhi University professor Hany Babu to Mumbai

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) inquiring into the Bhima Koregaon case in Maharashtra has summoned Delhi University associate professor MT Hany Babu to appear before it in Mumbai on July 15, Scroll. In reported.

This summons had been delivered to him by an officer on Saturday.

Professor Hany Babu who teaches in the English department of the university is a noted anti-caste activist and a staunch proponent of social justice. Being the coordinator of the ‘Alliance of Social Justice’ and a member of the ‘Joint Action Front for Democratic Education’, he has extensively worked to ensure justice and democracy in higher educational institutions.

“They are asking me to travel to Mumbai in the middle of a pandemic. It is not just a health hazard to me but also to my family. I live in Noida and there are so many restrictions to even travel to Delhi,” Hany Babu told Scroll.

In 2019 September, 20 officers of the Pune Police conducted searches at the residence of Hany Babu in Noida, in connection with the same case.
