India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 13 lakh

India reported 48,916 fresh coronavirus cases on Saturday, taking its overall tally to 13,36,861.

The toll reached 31,358 after 757 more patients succumbed to the novel virus.

More than 8.49 lakh people have recovered.

Over 1.58 crore coronavirus samples have been tested so far, said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) adding 4.20 lakh samples were tested on Friday alone.

The Union health ministry said that the recovery rate rose to 63.45 percent, whereas the case fatality rate declined to 2.38 percent on Friday.

Delhi AAP government said the Capital’s coronavirus positivity rate is now 5%. According to PTI report, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal credits people, Aam Aadmi Party, and the Centre for “attaining victory” over the coronavirus crisis, but adds that the fight against pandemic is not over yet. CM also said the COVID-19 cases and deaths in the city have reduced.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tests positive for the coronavirus.

“I will be admitted at COVID-19-dedicated Chirayu Hospital on the advice of doctors,” said Chouhan on Saturday.

He appealed to all those who came in contact with him, to get tested for the disease and quarantine themselves.
