Kerala Muslim youth claims police used pepper spray on his genitals, faced anti-Muslim slurs

18-year-old Muslim youth from Kerala has reached the offices of Chief Minister of Kerala and Director General of Police (DGP) and lodged the complaint against a sub-inspector of police from Palakkad Town North Police Station, alleging that he sustained personal injuries because the police officer sprayed his genitals with pepper spray and used anti-Muslim slurs inside the police station.

Sudheesh Kumar, SI from Palakkad Town North Police Station and his colleagues sprayed pepper on my private parts and shouted I should not give birth to Muslims anymore, says Abdurahman who was taken into custody with his brother Muhammed Bilal on Monday on suspicion of being involved in an attack against an RSS cadre.

They were taken into police custody after allegedly attacking an RSS cadre over a dispute on a Facebook post related to Ayodhya Bhoomi Pujan. The brothers Abdurahman and Bilal who hail from Mathanchode, Palakkad are also the local leaders of Campus Front of India, a student organization associated with the Popular Front of India.

The duo said they were brutally thrashed inside the police station asking why they were protesting against the RSS.

Abdurahman has been admitted to a private hospital in Palakkad.

“The sub-inspector T. Sudheesh Kumar stood with boots on my thighs and instructed other cops to hit on the leg,” Abdurahman said in his complaint to Kerala CM and state police chief.

Abdurahman also complained that the SI had threatened to falsely implicate him in a case. Hours after the incident, an FIR has been registered against Abdurahman for spreading fake news and religious hatred.

Campus Front of India has condemned the police torture against its members and demanded immediate action against SI Sudheesh Kumar.

E.S Kaja Hussain, Social Democratic Party of India state leader said the attack against the youth is the latest example of the police station becoming a harbor for RSS.

Protesting the police torture, SDPI workers staged protests in various parts of the state.
