India has become poster child of worst case scenario during pandemic: Shashi Tharoor

In view of the rising coronavirus cases and plummeting Gross domestic product growth, Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor said India has become the poster child of the worst case scenario of pandemic.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that most of the countries across the world have either managed to keep its country safe from the virus at the cost of their economy or have kept the economy running while experiencing the onslaught of the disease.

“We have the worst of both worlds. We have neither managed to limit the spread of the virus nor have we managed to keep the economy afloat,” Tharoor said.

He further claimed that the GDP for the first time in 41 years will actually shrink.

India’s coronavirus tally reached 54,00,619 on Sunday, after the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported a rise of 92,605 cases in the last 24 hours. The toll rose by 1,133 to 86,752. India now has 10,10,824 active cases.
