Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo will not play against Barcelona in their Champions League clash on Wednesday as his Covid-19 test has again returned a positive result.

Football fans around the world have been waiting for the clash between Ronaldo and Messi, two of the greatest players of all time. The 35-year-old have already missed three matches due to Covid-19.

In order to play in Wednesday’s clash with former La Liga rival Barcelona, Ronaldo needed to test negative on Tuesday as protocol states a player must have a negative test 24 hours before kick-off.

With over a decade of rivalry, millions of football fans look forward to watching Messi and Ronaldo play against each other. Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or five times and Messi winning it on six occasions.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is under investigation for a possible breach of protocol after he flew back to Italy following his positive test result.
