Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) vice president and Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashawi Yadav set a record in the history of Indian politics by conducting 19 rallies in one day, in assembly election-bound Bihar.

On 31 October, Yadav broke his previous record as well as that of his father and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, whose record was 16 rallies in a day.

“The strong enthusiasm within the youths for change is a witness that this bureaucratic government is going to end and the people’s government is coming in Bihar,” Tejashwi Yadav tweeted.

In an interview to The Indian Express, Tejashwi Yadav talked about the “overwhelming” crowds at his rallies, said he plans to “build on the gains of social justice.”

“Seems like the people of Bihar did not get to connect with anyone or speak to anyone in a long time. It was the Mann Ki Baat model, the no-press-conference model. Office-bearers and leaders would come and talk but do not give (people) any indication that they had been heard,” he said.

“So the man in action sets the record of 19 rallies in a single day across the Bihar. Gets down from chopper, straight away run towards stage, cheerful crowd welcomes him, holds the mike, delivers a fiery speech with engaging and responsive crowd, finishes it and runs for next point,” Sanjay Yadav, political adviser to Tejashwi Yadav tweeted.

Yadav addressed the rallies in all districts of Bihar.

Reports say 31-year-old cricketer turned politician Yadav has been alone pulling a sea of crowd, which has been a cause of worry for the BJP and JD(U) leaders in the state.
