Coronavirus in India: 46,963 cases and 470 deaths in 24 hours

India’s COVID-19 count rose nearly to 8.2 million on Sunday with 46,963 new cases being recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry.

The death toll increased by 470 to 1,22,111.

Total case count is now 81,84,082. The number of active cases stood at 5,70,458, while the recoveries reached 74,91,513.

“Total number of samples tested up to 31st October is 10,98,87,303 including 10,91,239 samples tested yesterday,” said ICMR.

The case fatality stood at 1.49%, while the recovery rate was recorded at 91.54%.

Maharashtra, the most hit state, added 5,548 COVID-19 patients on Saturday, taking the case tally to 16,78,406. The Mumbai city added 992 new cases, taking its tally to 2.57 lakh.

Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister R Doraikkannu, who had tested positive for coronavirus, died Saturday night at a private hospital in Chennai.
