Reiterating allegations of anomalies in the postal ballot count in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Rashtriya Janata Dal has decided to move the court if the Election Commission again rejects its recount demand.
On the counting day, RJD has alleged that Grand Alliance candidates lost in more than 12 seats due to irregularities in the counting of the polled postal ballots.
Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav told media that NDA polled only 37.3% of votes compared to Grand Alliance’s 32.2%.
A RJD state leader said on Saturday that the going to court was very much on the table.
NDA polled 1, 57, 00728 while Grand Alliance was polled a total 156, 88458.
“Overall difference in the total votes polled was too thin to be ignored,” RJD leader said.
“We firmly believe that we won not 110 but 130 seats. The EC did not abide by its own rule on counting the postal ballots first. There were at least 20 seats where our candidates lost by slender margins. We are asked to provide evidence. But it is the EC that has to give evidence… the complete video-recording of counting of postal ballots. We also wonder how 500 to 700 to 900 postal ballots were declared invalid,” Tejashwi Yadav Thursday said.
