Worse may happen in December: SC wants COVID report from 4 states

Supreme Court on Monday sought affidavit from Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Assam governments on the steps taken by them in regard to the current COVID-19 condition in the states.

A Bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan also pulls up Gujarat and Delhi for worsening COVID-19 situation.

SC asked all the states to file status reports on steps they have taken, steps intended to be taken and help needed from Centre to combat the pandemic.

The court said the situation is going out of control in Gujarat.

“What is happening in state of Gujarat? What is the policy decision? What is happening in your state? What steps are you taking with respect to political events etc?,” said top court.

“We are hearing of a huge spike in the current month. We want a latest status report from all states. Worse things may happen in December if states aren’t well prepared,” SC said.
