Rajbhar is my friend and we will show our strength in UP now: Owaisi

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) supremo and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday visited Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh and Jaunpur.

Owaisi, who was on a one-day visit to UP, was accompanied by Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president Om Prakash Rajbhar.

Before the next assembly elections, the vocal Muslim leader Owaisi forged an alliance with SBSP to make a strong ground in eastern UP.

While addressing the sea of crowd, AIMIM leader launched an attack on former Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and said that he had been prevented from coming to the state 12 times when Yadav was the chief minister.

“During the regime of Akhilesh government, I was stopped from entering UP 12 times and permission for arrival was denied on 28 occasions. Now, when I got the permission I am here,” he said.

Owaisi told media that the people of UP are looking for an alternative.

Azamgarh is the parliamentary constituency of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Owaisi further claimed he would meet party workers and supporters in all the districts of UP one by one.

“They want that people should keep voting them like slaves and others should not contest elections. When we contest any election, our motive is to win it, and not to ensure victory or defeat of anyone else. Victory and defeat are part of any contest,” said Owaisi

Owaisi, who reached Azamgarh via Jaunpur with SBSP chief, said, “Rajbhar has launched Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha in UP with us. We will contest UP elections together. I will visit each district to talk to cadres. After a month or two of Covid-19 vaccination drive, we will also start holding public meetings.”

In December, Owaisi and Rajbhar had announced that they would contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2022 as part of the larger alliance called ‘Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha’.
