“We will not vacate.” Farmers to defy 144 imposed in Ghazipur border

At Ghazipur border, where farmers agitating against Narendra Modi government’s recent agri laws, the administration has imposed Section 144 and 133.

Barricades have been brought in and a huge police presence is sighted at the site.

Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait, against whom an FIR has been filed over the Republic Day tractor rally, has been served a legal notice to surrender before the Ghaziabad administration.

The farmer leader has refused arrest. “I will hang from the stage but I will not leave the stage,” Tikait said.

He also claimed that the electricity and water supply have been cut at the site. “

As hundreds of police personnel in anti-riot gear, and Rapid Action Forces spread out across the area, securing the peripheries, the protesting farmers moved closer to the stage, from where Tikait regularly spoke.

ANI reported that Uttar Pradesh government ordered all its DMs and SSPs to ensure the end of all farmers’ protests in the state.

Meanwhile, Opposition parties including Congress, NCP, J-K National Conference, DMK, AITC, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, RJD, CPI (M), CPI, IUML, RSP, PDP, MDMK, Kerala Congress (M) and AIUDF will boycott the President’s address in the Parliament tomorrow in protest against three farm laws, as per a joint statement.

The leaders reaffirmed their collective demand for the repeal of the three farm laws and said they stood in solidarity with protesting farmers
