Canada MP condemns R-Day violence against farmers, asks PM Trudeau to intervene

Canadian MP and head of the New Democratic Party (NDP) Jagmeet Singh has asked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to condemn the Republic Day violence against agitating farmers, immediately.

“I am deeply concerned about the violence against farmers in India. Those calling to harm farmers must be held accountable and the right to peaceful protest must be protected. I am calling on Justin Trudeau to condemn the violence, immediately,” sharing a video message on his Twitter, Singh said.

Meanwhile, farmers protesting the Centre’s new agri laws will observe ‘Sadbhavna Diwas’ on Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary on January 30 and hold a day-long fast, farm leaders said.

They also asserted that their agitation will gain strength as farmers in large numbers will join them in the days ahead.
