Your conspiracy against us strengthened our protest: Farmer leaders to Central govt

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Sunday said the Central Government’s conspiracy against farmers has strengthened their protest against the newly-enacted farm laws.

The ‘Delhi Chalo’ farmers’ protest at border points of New Delhi has entered the 76th day today.

Thousands of farmers, especially from Punjab and Haryana, are staging a sit-in protest along Delhi borders. The farmers are demanding a complete rollback of the new farm reform laws and a guarantee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system being retained.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior Union ministers like Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari should hold talks with farmers’ unions to resolve the deadlock over ongoing protest.

He said differences regarding the implementation of agriculture reforms can be resolved through deliberations. Pawar was speaking to reporters in Baramati, his hometown in Pune district.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will on February 10 address a farmers’ rally in Rajasthan, a senior party leader said.
