BJP will loot farmers and take their land: Mamata Banerjee

Talking about the contentious new farm laws, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that the farmers will do all the hard work and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take everything away from them.

Banerjee was addressing a rally at Kalna in the West Bardhaman district.

In her election campaign speech, Banerjee accused the saffron party of looting farmers and taking their land.

“They will loot the farmers and take their land. The farmers will be left with nothing. Farmers will sow and reap their crops and they will take away everything from them” CM said at the rally.

The ‘Delhi Chalo’ farmers’ protest at border points of New Delhi has entered the 76th day today. Thousands of farmers, especially from Punjab and Haryana, are staging a sit-in protest along Delhi borders.

The protest started on November 26. The farmers are demanding a complete rollback of the new farm reform laws and a guarantee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system being retained.

Multiple rounds of talks between the Centre and the farmers’ union leaders have ended in a stalemate. Protesting farmers fear that the new laws will dismantle the MSP system and corporatise farming.
