RSS marking houses of donors for Ram Temple, just as Nazis did: Kumaraswamy

Former Karnataka chief minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of marking houses of those who gave donations for Ram Temple in Ayodhya and said it was similar to what the Nazis did in Germany.

“It appears that those collecting donations for the construction of Ram Mandir have been separately marking the houses of those who paid money and those who did not. This is similar to what Nazis did in Germany during the regime of Hitler when lakhs of people lost their lives..,” in a series of tweets, Kumaraswamy claimed.

As part of the two month-long donation drive for construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, multiple incidents of anti-Muslim violence have occurred across the country including many strong holds of Hindu militant organisation RSS and other Hindu fringe groups. In December 2020, violence against Muslims and mosques erupted in villages in Madhya Pradesh when Hindu groups, participating in rallies to collect donations for construction of Ram Temple, stopped in front of mosques, chanted “Jai Shreeram” slogans and vandalised mosques.

Former CM also said that he doesn’t know “where these developments, which are being witnessed in India, take us finally.”

Kumaraswamy went on to say: “Historians say that RSS took birth at the same time when Nazi Party was founded in Germany. There are concerns on what will happen if the RSS tries to implement similar policies adopted by Nazis. The fundamental rights of people are being snatched away in the country now..”

“The country is witnessing a situation where one cannot freely express his or her views. This is nothing but an undeclared emergency,” he alleged.

Raising his concerns about the current situation in the country, the senior politician said that a situation has been created where nobody can share their feelings.

“I do not know what will happen if media upholds the government’s views in the coming days. In such a situation it is difficult to guess what would be the fate of common man,” Kumaraswamy said.

He also said that “it is clear from the emerging trends that anything may happen in the country.”
