Delhi Pogrom; “Muslims can’t be our brothers,” Hindu mob shouted before killing Musharaf

Musharaf, a resident of northeast Delhi was hiding under the bed when an angry mob entered the room and found him during the horrific days of 2020 anti-Muslim pogrom in national capital Delhi.

“Please spare me, I am like your brother,” Musharaf’s sister Tabassum could hear her brother pleading his assailants. That was the last thing she heard from her brother.

After a year, Tabassum shifted back to the outskirts of Loni in Uttar Pradesh. Haunting memories from the days of violence have made her adamant not to go back to Bhagirathi Vihar, a better neighborhood in northeast Delhi.
