Former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin dies of coronavirus

Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammad Shahabuddin died on Saturday.

The Bihar leader was being treated at the DDU hospital in New Delhi after testing positive for coronavirus on April 20.

Shahabuddin was in a critical condition Saturday morning and doctors were planning to shift him to the LNJP hospital, Indian Express reported.

Shahabuddin is in Tihar Jail and is serving a life sentence for murder.

The 54 year old politician was former Member of Parliament from the Siwan constituency in Bihar and was a former member of the National Executive Committees of the Janata Dal and the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

His wife Heena Shahab ran unsuccessfully for his former seat in parliament in 2009, 2014, and 2019 as a member of the RJD party.
