CPIM urges India govt to voice its support to Palestine

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has denounced the Israeli attacks on Palestinians and called upon the government of India to voice its support to the people of Palestine.

“Israel is moving towards the complete occupation of East Jerusalem by attacking Palestinians who were protesting it’s attempt to forcefully expel residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood to make way for Jewish settlements. Israeli forces raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the third holiest shrine for Muslims and injured hundreds of people praying in the Mosque during the month of Ramadan,” read a statement from the left party.

A night of heavy bombardment on the Gaza Strip has continued into Wednesday morning as Israeli forces launched intensive raids on various locations across the besieged coastal territory.

Gaza’s ministry of health said the overall death toll since the latest offensive began stood at 43, including 13 children. Almost 300 others have been wounded.

CPI(M) accused that Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu had repeatedly failed to win a majority in the Israel elections and launched these attacks for petty political gains and to cover up the government’s failure to protect people from the raging COVID-19 pandemic.

“Palestinians living in Israel are even discriminated from being vaccinated, reflecting the apartheid policies pursued by Israel,” it said.

These acts of Israel are in gross violation of human rights and various resolutions passed by the UN, while condemning Israeli violence, top body of CPI(M) said.
