Gaza sees deadliest night in almost a week

Israel’s genocidal air raids in Gaza entered their eighth consecutive day, as the death toll rises to near 200 with one-fourth of them children. At least 192 people, including 58 children and 34 women, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the latest attack began a week ago with Israeli force storming Al-Aqsa mosque.

On Sunday, at least 42 Palestinians were killed and the road towards, Al Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s biggest medical facility was bombed by the Israeli force.

Palestinian journalists and people from Gaza tweeted that the attack is intensifying. “I thought I’d be able to sleep but not yet it seems Israeli has not finished,” Najla Shawa, a humanitarian worker from Gaza expressed on Monday morning.

Visuals from Gaza shows the city is hit couple of times within a minute, rocking the floor. Gaza is one of the most crowded place on earth that accommodate hundreds and thousands of Palestinian refugees from over 250 villages of Palestine, now occupied by Israel.

Meanwhile, more than two dozen Democratic Senators have urged an “immediate ceasefire”- a call that the administration of President Joe Biden has not made. Biden remains obedient to the Israeli counterpart Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who declared an end to hostilities was not imminent.

Netanyahu has suggested that Israel’s offensive in Gaza will not conclude soon, saying on Saturday that the war will take “as long as necessary.”

The United Nations Security Council met on Sunday to discuss the violence but failed to agree on a joint statement. “The UN is actively engaging all sides towards an immediate ceasefire,” updated United Nations, General Secretary António Guterres on Sunday.

Sally Buzbee, the Associated Press’s top editor, has called for an independent investigation into Israel’s attack on a building housing the offices of major international news outlets in Gaza.

The Israeli military destroyed the 12-storey tower, on Saturday, that hosted the bureaus of AP, Al Jazeera and Middle East Eye, among others. Israel claimed that the building was being used by Hamas without providing evidence.
