Rahul Gandhi calls for ‘Opposition unity’ in order to fight BJP, RSS

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday called for Opposition unity as the need of the hour.

Former Congress chief Gandhi highlighted the more united the Opposition parties become, the more it will be difficult for the BJP and RSS to suppress the resistant voices.

The Opposition meet planned by Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday was attended by Congress, NCP, Shiv Sena, RJD, SP, CPI(M), CPI, IUML, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), Kerala Congress (M), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, National Conference, TMC and Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD).

“The single most important thing in my view is that we unite this force. The more this voice (of the people) unites, the more powerful this voice will become, the more difficult it will become for BJP-RSS to suppress it,” Gandhi said at the meeting.

“Within the foundations of unity, we can have a few discussions and arguments but I think it is important for us to come up with the principles of the foundations of our unity,” he added.

The breakfast meeting of Opposition leaders from both Houses held on Tuesday at the Constitution Club in New Delhi.

Leaders were forming a strategy to hold a structured discussion on Pegasus snooping issue, Farm Bills among other things in the Parliament.

MPs from Trinamool Congress, which has not been taking part at all meetings convened by Gandhi so far, are also present at the meeting. However, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has skipped the breakfast meet.

After the meeting, Gandhi and other opposition leaders cycled to Parliament to highlight the issue of high fuel prices.
