Seeing anger of farmers, all drivers of ‘double engine’ disappeared: Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav hit out at the Yogi Adityanath government on Monday claiming that the success of the Muzaffarnagar Kisan Mahapanchayat has caused the party to run “helter-skelter.”

“Seeing the anger of the farmers, all the drivers of the double engine (government) have disappeared. Bharatiya Janata Party has started running helter-skelter,” Yadav tweeted.

SP leader lauded the Kisan Mahapanchayat for birthing a “people’s revolution” as he said that it would help the country progress.

“Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar has given birth to a ‘people’s revolution’ which will take the country out of the darkness of BJP’s hate politics and towards a new light of peace and progress,” reads his tweet.

“The BJP government should have respected the struggle of the farmers and withdrawn the three farm laws. The nation will not accept any insult to the farmers,” Yadav told reporters.

Challenging the saffron party and its state and union governments with just months to go for the UP assembly polls, farm leaders driving the historic movement against the Narendra Modi government’s three agricultural laws staged a major show of strength in Muzaffarnagar Sunday, announcing in front of thousands of farmers their plan to campaign against the governing party in India’s most populated state.

Farmers’ unions including Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM)  have also called for ‘Mission Uttar Pradesh’ to continue protest against farm laws.
