Shah Rukh Khan meets son Aryan at Arthur Road prison

Actor legend Shah Rukh Khan met his son Aryan Khan at the Arthur Road prison where Aryan lodged since October 8 after being arrested in the Mumbai cruise drugs case.

This is the first time Shah Rukh has been seen in public after Aryan’s arrest. He is said to have cancelled all his shoots and professional commitments since that time.

Aryan, whose bail plea was rejected by a special NDPS court on Wednesday, has moved the Bombay High Court.

Denying bail to Aryan, a special NDPS court said that since Arbaaz Merchant, who was with Aryan, was found with contraband and Khan knew about it, this amounted to “conscious possession”. On the day of arrest, while no drugs were found on Aryan, 6 grams of charas were allegedly seized from Merchant.

While Opposition leaders, activists doubt the role of Central agencies and Hindu nationalist party in the arrest of SRK’s son, film and television celebrities expressed their shock and anger on rejection of Aryan’s bail plea.

Manish Bhanushali, national vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Party, and KP Gosavi, a private investigator were part of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raid during which actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested, NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik had earlier alleged.

Malik had shared two new videos on Twitter showing BJP leader and private investigator entering and leaving the NCB office in Mumbai.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had alleged on Twitter that actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, who has been arrested in a drugs case, was being targeted because of his surname.

Several activists, journalists, and netizens took to social media to express their opinion that Aryan Khan was arrested and denied bail because of his father’s Muslim identity.

“Aryan khan is being targeted because he is a Muslim,” Dr. Udit Raj, national spokesperson of Congress and former MP said in a tweet.

Calling it an ordeal, director Hansal Mehta wrote, “The travesty continues. The ordeal continues. Heartbreaking.”

Swara Bhasker wrote, “Stunning abdication of law.. by those charged with upholding the rule of law!”
