Aryan Khan, superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son, stepped out of the Arthur Road Jail on Saturday, after being spending 26 days in prison.
The 23-year-old was granted bail on Thursday by the Bombay High Court in the drugs-on-cruise case but spent two nights in jail as his bail papers missed the 5:30 pm deadline on Friday.
Videos show hundreds of people waiting outside the Arthur Road Central prison to take a glimpse of Khan coming out of the jail as Mumbai Police threw in a heavy security blanket in the area.
Since morning, fans have been crowding outside Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat home with “Welcome Home, Aryan” posters.
Among the 14 conditions laid down by Justice Nitin W Sambre while granting Aryan Khan and other two accused Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha bail, the High Court has directed the three to surrender their passports immediately and “not in any manner try to delay the trial” once it starts.
The conditions include not leaving Mumbai without informing the investigating officer, not indulging in similar activities, avoiding communication with co-accused or any person involved in similar activities and not talking to the media.
Khan and several others were detained the Narcotics Control Bureau after a raid on a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai on October 2.
During the raid, the agency claimed to have seized 13 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of mephedrone, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA (ecstasy) and Rs 1.3 lakh from the ship.
During the bail plea hearings, Khan’s lawyers had repeatedly argued that no drugs were found in Khan’s possession. They had also claimed that the case against him was based on some irrelevant and old WhatsApp chats.
