Two minor Dalit sisters raped by Shakya caste-men in Uttar Pradesh village

According to the Cophenhagen-based International Dalit Solidarity Network, 10 Dalit women are raped in India every day. 

A 17-year-old Class IX student and her 16-year-old cousin, both belonging to a Dalit family, were raped by two men Guarav Shakya (21) and Saurabh Shakya (20) from a neighboring village in UP’s Mainpuri district on Friday evening.

Saurabh has been arrested by cops and he was remanded to judicial custody on Saturday, The Times of India reported. SHO Vinod Kumar said a hunt is on to nab Gaurav.

An FIR was lodged against the duo under IPC section 376 (rape), provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and SC/ST Act at Danhaar police station.

The accused are belong to the Shakya community. Shakya caste is a Kshatriya dynasty of Suryavansha and It is in the OBC list in UP.

The survivors had gone to an agricultural field on Friday evening, when the two men, grabbed them and dragged them deep into the vegetation, according to the newspaper.
