‘Hater’: UAE royal slams Indian group over invitation to Sudhir Chaudhary for Abu Dhabi event

Princess Hend Al Qassimi, a member of the royal family of the United Arab Emirates.

Princess Hend Al Qassimi, a member of the royal family of the United Arab Emirates, called out the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India’s Abu Dhabi chapter after the group of professionals invited right-wing Indian journalist Sudhir Chaudhary for its annual international seminar.

“In 2019 & 2020, Sudhir Chaudhry ran shows on Zee News where he spewed venom against Muslims for leading anti-citizenship protests. He ran fake stories, targeting Muslim students and women for leading the citizenship protest in Shaheen Bagh, New Delhi & other parts of the country,” Princess Qassimi tweeted on Saturday.

Sudhir Chaudhary who was widely criticized for spreading Islamophobia through TV debates is the editor-in-chief of Zee News and hosts the prime-time show Daily News And Analysis on Zee News.

“Why are you bringing an Islamophobe and hater to my peaceful country?” she asks.

“Sudhir Chaudhary is a Hindu right-wing anchor known for his deeply Islamophobic shows that target India’s 200 million Muslims. Many of his prime-time shows have directly contributed to real-world violence against Muslims across the country,” read her another tweet.

Princess Qassimi’s response has been applauded by several users on Twitter. Some have highlighted previous instances of ‘Islamophobia’ displayed made by Chaudhary on TV debates and Twitter.

Last year too, the member of the royal family of the United Arab Emirates had called out “Islamophobic posts” by several Twitter handles in India.

Last year, the News Broadcasting Standards Authority in India had summoned Zee News over the special report of editor-in-chief, Sudhir Chaudhary on different ‘Jihads’ allegedly practiced in India.

The NBSA had came to prima facie finding that the tone and tenor of the program were “divisive’ and the channel was certainly was “targeting a particular community, against the secular ethos of the country.
