A tribal man was beaten to death and a Muslim youth was seriously injured in two separate incidents of mobs attacks surfaced at two different locations in Jharkhand.
Kept hostage for entire night, killed by mob
A 35-year-old tribal man Sunil Pasi was beaten up by the residents of Khetko village in Giridih district on Thursday night.
When the severely injured Pasi taken to a nearby community health centre, the doctor declared him brought dead.
The assailants beat tribal man up badly and kept him hostage for the entire night after the killer mob accused him of being a cattle thief.
According to The Telegraph, the police have arrested six persons in the case till Friday evening and lodged case against 14 persons.
Beaten up while on the way to mosque
In another incident, on 28 November, Adil Hussain, a 22-year-old Muslim man from Idgah Mohalla in Simdega, was beaten up by a Hindu mob at Thakur Toli.
Adil with head injuries, is now recuperating at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi.
The incident took place when Adil Hussain came out of his house to offer evening namaz, according to The Clarion.
Adil has been receiving treatment for schizophrenia for the last 10 years.
“Simdega hospital referred him to RIMS Ranchi after seeing the serious injury on his head. Though RIMS doctors have declared him out of danger, he is still in the hospital,” Adil’s brother Yusuf Ansari told the newspaper.
Shams Tabrez, superintendent of police in Simdega while talking to media, refused to term the incident as religion-based attcak.
Adil’s father had lodged named FIR against three persons and also FIR against several unidentified persons.
One Rohit Singh has been arrested so far.
Jharkhand Janadhikar Mahasabha — a coalition of human rights outfits and civil societies — has demanded the strict action against the attackers.
According to this group, over 30 persons belonging to tribal, tribal Christian and Muslim communities being either lynched or beaten up by mob between year 2016 and 2021.
