Army chopper crash updates: 13 out of 14 dead, no info on CDS Bipin Rawat yet

A helicopter carrying India’s foremost military officer Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat crashed near Ooty in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

13 people have been confirmed dead in the incident. There were around 14 people on board.

“13 of the 14 personnel involved in the military chopper crash in Tamil Nadu have been confirmed dead. Identities of the bodies to be confirmed through DNA testing,” ANI reported.

The crash took place in the Nilgiris, according to reports. Some injured people have been taken to hospital.

CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife, defence assistant, security commandos and an IAF pilot were on board the Mi-series chopper when it crashed between Coimbatore and Sulur in Tamil Nadu, ANI news agency reported.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will leave for Coonoor soon. He will also speak in Parliament over the incident.
