Shan murder case: Kerala police arrest two RSS workers

KS Shan

The Kerala Police on Monday arrested two Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) cadres in connection with the murder of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) state secretary K S Shan in Alappuzha on Saturday night.

The arrested RSS workers Prasad and Ratheesh had a role in the alleged conspiracy behind the murder, said Alappuzha superintendent of police (SP) G Jaidev.

Police also said that eight others, including those who had executed the murder, are yet to be arrested.

According to police, Prasad and Ratheesh had arranged the vehicle for the assailants who had attacked Shan.

Reacting to the incident, the SDPI state leadership said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was behind Shan’s murder, and appealed for state-wide protests against RSS terror.

Following the killing of Shan, Ranjith Sreenivasan, state secretary of BJP OBC Morcha was hacked to death subsequently in 12 hours after attackers barged into his residence in Alappuzha.

BJP senior leaders said that the Popular Front of India and SDPI were behind the murder of their state leader Sreenivasan.

Sreenivasan’s murder looked like a retaliation to Shan’s murder.

Though police detained several SDPI workers, the police said they are yet to arrest the accused in connection with the murder of BJP leader.
