Forces kill 6 Maoists including 4 women near Chhattisgarh Telangana border

At least six Maoists including four women were killed by security forces near the border between Chhattisgarh and Telangana on Monday morning.

The six were killed in an exchange of gunfire with security forces, police officials told reporters. The deceased are yet to be identified.

The Maoists are believed to be from the Cherla Area Committee and one of their senior leaders may be among the dead, police officials said.

“The information was that they were preparing IEDs to attack police. A joint operation by Chattisgarh forces and Telangana Greyhounds was taken up and the encounter with the group of Maoists occurred between 6:30 am to 7 am. At least six Maoists have died. They are yet to be identified,” Bhardradri Kothagudem SP Sunil Dutt.
