Dozens of activists and students have gathered at Balson Chauraha in Allahabad on 27 December to protest against the calls of Muslim genocide by Hindutva leaders and Hindu monks at Hindu parliaments in Haridwar, Delhi, and Raipur.

The protest was held under the banner of Nagrik Samaj, a civil society collective in the region, and several groups like People’s Union for Civil Liberties, Fraternity Movement, DISHA, ICM, AISA, SFI, and Adhivakta Manch have also joined the demonstration.

“Muslim Lives Matter,” “Arrest all the organisers of Dharm Sansad,” “Stop Hate Crimes against Muslims,” “Bhagwa Gundo Hosh m Aao” and “Sampradayik Hamla Nahi Sahenge” slogans were raised by the protesters.

Speakers demanded that the legal action should be initiated against those who made genocidal calls.

“Silence of state governments and law and order maintaining institutions on rising hatred against Muslims in India alarming,” Sarah Ahmad Siddiqui, Fraternity Movement Allahabad unit president said.

This month, Haridwar in Uttarakhand, Raipur in Chhattisgarh, and Pune in Maharashtra witnessed several anti-Muslim gatherings. During these events, Hindu monks and Hindutva leaders called for the ethnic cleansing of Muslims. Despite outrage and criticisms, no action has been taken against them so far in this matter.
