India: Active COVID cases cross 7-lakh

Supreme court says not mute spectator

India reported 179,723 new coronavirus infections on Monday, the highest figure since late May, health ministry data showed.

The country also recorded another 146 deaths taking the death toll to 483,936 although many believe the actual number to be much higher.

The daily positivity rate stood at 13.29 per cent.

The Omicron tally in the country meanwhile, stood at 4,033.

Meanwhile, the authorities Monday began administering the third ‘precautionary dose’ to priority groups — health care and frontline workers and those aged over 60 years of age with comorbidities.
