Third-wave: India records over 2.47 lakh new cases

India on Thursday reported 2,47,417 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending at 9 am, up by 27% since yesterday.

The daily positivity rate has risen to 13.11%.

With 84,825 recoveries and 380 deaths, active cases presently stand at 11,17,531.

Omicron tally has risen to 5,488— Maharashtra (1,367) and Rajasthan (792) leading the chart. Meanwhile, Delhi has 549 cases, Kerala 486, Karnataka 479, West Bengal 294, and UP 275.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold a virtual meeting with the chief ministers of all states on Thursday afternoon, to review the coronavirus situation across the country.
