Uttar Pradesh police Saturday arrested Samajwadi Party MLA from Nahid Hasan in an old Gangster Act case.
Nahid, who is an SP candidate from Kairana constituency in Shamli district, is a two-time SP MLA from the same constituency.
The arrest comes a day after he filed his nomination papers. Nahid was the lone candidate who filed his nomination papers on the first day of issuance of notification on the UP Assembly elections.
Police alleged that the SP politician was on run, since Gangster Act proceedings were pressed against him.
